Now Playing As: Captioned (English) (change)

Chile peppers spice up cuisines around the world, from Chili Rellenos to Hunan Kung Pao, but they can be surprisingly tricky to grow and harvest. In this episode, Niba chats with two teams increasing access to chili peppers. First, researchers at New Mexico State University’s Chili Pepper Institute are breeding mechanically-harvestable chili peppers. Second, Transplanting Traditions, a community farm in North Carolina, is providing space and support to refugee farmers. Part of the "Hungry Planet" series.
